About Me:

I believe that although everyone in the world is different, we all have qualities that tie us together. That is why I chose wildflower as my title. Wildflowers are all unique, growing where they want and they are all beautiful in their own way, yet they are all still flowers. All wildflowers are still flowers despite their external differences, just like all humans are still people. We are all similar in at least that respect.

Things Drewby Loves

Interests:

I started practicing Shotokan Karate two and a half years ago (I earned my brown belt at the beginning of 2008),
and I love it! It's a great way to stay in shape and it's tons of fun,
too. My brother practices also,
so it's something special between the two of us. ---------- Everyone always says that I inherited my artistic abilities from my grandmother. In her day,
she was a wonderful artist,
and many of her paintings adorn the walls of both her house and my house. I've always loved drawing and painting,
and I recently became interested in pottery and photography as well. I travel almost everywhere with my camera,
and I'm constantly snapping photos of people and places that catch my eye. ---------- I absolutely love to write. My dream is to one day publish a book,
and currently,
I'm writing a children's book focusing on the language needs of autistic children.

Teachers:

I take a course at my school called American Studies. It consists of one English class and one History class which the two teachers focus around similar themes. The teachers who teach each class are wonderful - I've always loved school,
but they opened my eyes to a whole new level of learning. ---------- "When you figure out the difference between existing and living,
come back and see me." - My 12th grade physical education teacher,
Mr. Hardy,
told me and a group of other seniors that at the end of our very last gym class,
and it's stuck with me since. I still haven't figured out that difference yet,
but when I do,
I'm going to be sure to pay a visit to Mr. Hardy.

Books:

The "Harry Potter" books by J.K. Rowling - I basically grew up with Harry,
Ron,
and Hermione,
and I know they'll always be a part of my life. ---------- Tamora Pierce's "Protector of the Small" series - another great series! The books feature a girl training for knighthood in a world where there is only one other female knight - and she had to hid her gender to get there! It's a great quartet filled with humor,
fantasy,
action,
and even the added bit of romance,
and I love it. :] ---------- Writing was always a passion of mine,
but these books especially erupted a love of writing in me unlike any other.

"RENT" - I think the message behind this movie is amazing. It's all about staying true to yourself and cherishing what you have in life. ---------- "Mulan" - this is my favorite movie of all time! I love the animation,
and I've always been interested in Asian culture. The movie is so much fun to watch and I love Mulan's resiliency.
